Why I decided to do surgery

Due to my facial asymmetry, I began to have pain in my jaw joints, and my confidence went down when taking photos. My teeth also wore down on one side.

Why I chose EU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Because there are no ghost doctors, there's a separate anesthesiologist, I can review the CCTV footage, and the doctors have a lot of experience, I felt like I could trust them.

Week 1
I had to wear the wafer for 2 weeks, so I couldn't open my mouth and had to use a syringe or a small container to drink liquid foods. I don't have a lot of energy, but because my previously-asymmetric face has changed and the mouth has been moved backwards, I feel like I look more approachable and look forward to each week. The swelling seems pretty severe, but after 1 week the ice pack and compresion band intereferes with the swelling from going down, so I've been diligently going to the de-swelling laser appointments, drinking pumpkin juice, and going on walks more often.

Week 2
I had the stitches removed today and was told that I can brush my teeth now. I could only use a mouth wash before, so I'm happy to be able to brush my teeth. I've been eating soft food and haven't been chewing. The feeling in my upper lip has completely returned, and the lower lip is also slowly returning. I've been walking and doing bodyweight exercises to help with the swelling. It's also nice to be able to sleep lying down.

Week 3

The sensation in my lips is the same as last week. I ate ramyun by smashing it into tiny pieces. I didn't eat ramyun often before, but I ate a lot of it. Afterwards I felt full. I've been following the jaw exercise video that EU has sent me and am able to fit about one and a half fingers. People around me have told me that my swelling has gone down a lot and I feel it as well. They say it will continue to go down, so I'm curious how much slimmer it will ultimately be.

Week 4

The screws in my gums were all removed, and I was told that starting today I can eat foods that I can disintegrate with my fingers, so after the check-up I went to eat rice and stew. It's still difficult to eat bean sprouts or shredded seaweed. The feeling in my lower gums has come back and the feeling in the roof of my mouth is about 50% back! This week I've been eating ramyun almost every day and I wasn't able to exercise, so the swelling remained the same :( I was told that if I eat something with too much sodium, it interferes with the swelling from going down. So he told me to eat as few salty foods as possible.

2 months

It's almost 2 months after surgery and I've been doing the jaw exercises dilligently so I can put almost 3 fingers into my mouth. The swelling continues to go down slowly, and I've been eating rice cakes, seafood and meat that isn't too tough by cutting it into small pieces with scissors.

3 Months

It'll be 3 months soon and I've been eating meat by cutting it into small pieces and eating a wide variety of food that doesn't strain my jaws. In terms of the numbness, my sensation in my lower jaw is almost completely returned and the upper jaw is about 70% restored. People around me tell me that my face is a lot smaller than the beginning and that the asymmetry is a lot better now.

4 Months
It's almost 4 months. I eat almost anything except things that are too hard or tough. I can fit three fingers in my mouth. The numbness is about the same as the 3 month mark, maybe a little better. Everyone tells me that my face is a lot smaller now!

5 Months
I can now eat meat or kimchi or similar foods comfortably and the feeling in my gums is about 80% restored. If I meet someone for the first time in a while, they tell me that I looks prettier in a natrual way, so I feel good. When I compare my bite with it from before the surgery, I can see that nothing is off and it has been maintained well so I am satisfied with that!

6 Months
Now everything feels like the way it was before the surgery! I can eat meat or radish kimchi without restrictions and the swelling has gone down a lot. Honestly, I can't tell much because I see myself every day, but people tell me that the swelling has gone down a lot. Everyone tells me that the result is pretty in a natural way!

7 Months

There doesn't seem to be any swelling remaining, and the jawline looks a lot smoother. Also I met a friend for the first time in a while and I was told that it doesn't look unnatural and that I look naturally pretty, so I felt good! I'm able to eat anything I want so I don't get stressed about food either!

8 Months
It's been 8 months since hte surgery, and I live life like I did before the surgery. There's nothing I can't eat. The surgery result is so natural that there are some people who get surprised when I tell them I had surgery lol.

9 Months
It's been 9 months and my friends tell me I look even slimmer! I eat well these days so I gained weight, but only under my chin, so I feel like I should regulate what I'm eating lol :(

10 Months
It's been 10 months since the surgery. Now I can live without any restrictions so there are no inconviences.

11 Months

It's closing in on one year and now I feel like the swelling is completely gone. The sensations is about 8-90% recovered so it's not uncomfortable but it does feel a little different than before the surgery. Now I can eat hard foods and the surgery doesn't interfere with my life.

1 Year

It's been one year. Time went by quite quickly. 1 year ago, I was so uncomfortable after the surgery, but now I'm living wihtout any problems so I'm happy and grateful! Because I was able to do things wihtout restrictions 6 months after the surgery I'm just living as I did.
