Long FaceSurgical Method
Maxilla ((Upper Jaw))
A surgery decision is selectively made on maxilla, based on the status of the long face. In case the face is insufficiently sized forward and backward due to excessive delay in growth, in case vertical height is abnormal, and in case there is excessive facial asymmetry, the maxilla is cut horizontally in most cases and then re-positioned to the desired location.
Mandible (Lower Jaw)
SSRO or IVRO
Depending on the patient symptoms, the most appropriate method between IVRO and SSRO is chosen and used.
Chin (The Edge of the Jaw)
If the length of the face is long primarily due to overly developed lower jaw, then surgery is performed to shorten the length by cutting only the chin.
