At EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we provide 2-week intensive care to all our patients who have received double jaw surgery or facial bone contouring surgery.

SMARTLUX intensive care shortens the recovery period post-surgery, helping patients return to their ordinary life faster.

SMARTLUX is a light therapy technology which utilizes up to 4,320 medical space light-emitting diodes (SLD).

SMARTLUX, without causing direct or indirect skin impairment or pain, can generate LED wavelengths which penetrate inside through the skin, thereby regenerating the damaged nerves and blood vessels and enhancing the recovery of the area affected by the surgery. In addition, by promoting the circulation of blood through blood vessels, bruises and swelling can be removed effectively, thus helping patients return to their ordinary life faster.

EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery treats our patients with the same professional attitude even post-surgery. We wish you to recover faster and in a healthy manner through our
2-week intensive care post-surgery.
  • Q
  • For how long should I be putting on the wafer?
  • A
  • You will be putting on the wafer immediately after the surgery and until receiving your orthodontic treatment. But depending on the person, wafer may need to be put on for additional one or two more months after receiving

    orthodontic treatment.

While you do not need to put on your wafer constantly while you are hospitalized, you will still have to practice putting it on by looking at the mirror regularly.

While you can take your wafer out 2 weeks after the surgery, it is good to constantly having it on when you are not eating.

  • Q
  • How long do I have to put on facial bandage
  • A

  • Q
  • I feel a little difficulty in breathing after double jaw surgery. What should I do?
  • A
  • You may feel a little difficulty with breathing after the surgery, as your mucous membrane within your nose and mouth is swollen.

While you are hospitalized, our specialized staff members will monitor your status on a real-time basis and therefore you do not need to worry too much.

After leaving the hospital, we will prescribe you a nasal spray that you can apply to your nose whenever you feel uncomfortable with breathing.

For the first 2 to 3 days after the surgery is when your swelling is the most serious. Breathing may be uncomfortable during this period.

Your breathing will gradually become easier and comfortable as your sizable swelling diminishes starting one-week post-surgery.

  • Q
  • Can I sleep right after double jaw surgery?
  • A
  • Some time is needed for anesthetic gas to come out of the body after the double jaw surgery.

In addition, your status will need to be monitored continuously. As such, sleeping right after the surgery is difficult. You can sleep approximately 6 to 8 hours post-surgery.

After the surgery, in order to prevent edema and maintain breathing, it is advisable to have your head higher than your heart while sleeping.

When hospitalized, you have to put on your facial bandage during your sleep, but after leaving the hospital, you either do not have to put the facial bandage on, or you can loosen it up a little.

You do not need to worry much about your mouth opening widely during your sleep as this is not a concerning problem.
