Reason for Surgery and Choosing EU

With only orthodontic treatment, my lantern jaw did not get better so I decided to get surgery. For several years, I tried to find hospitals/clinics in Korea and America. I chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery since they specialized orthognathic surgery.

Post-OP 2 Days

I don’t have a picture on the day of my surgery so both pictures were taken the next day after the surgery. I think I’m the type to swell more as time goes by.

Post-OP 3 Days

The inside of my nose is still a bit swollen and breathing feels uncomfortable. I also feel very dizzy.

Post-OP 4 Days

This is a selfie that I took today. I think my face got more swollen. I’m experiencing dizziness and breathing is uncomfortable.

Post-OP 5 Days

My swelling got better and breathing is more comfortable now.

Post-OP 6 Days

My swelling seems to be decreasing day by day. I still cannot eat well so I feel dizzy.

Post-OP 7 Days

Today is the day where I get my mouth disinfected. My swelling seems to decrease randomly. The inside of my nose is swollen but it got a lot better. I’m having a hard time since I can’t eat well.

Post-OP 8 Days

I got my mouth disinfected yesterday and I was finally able to sleep while lying down. I’m able to eat a bit better now but the area around my mouth is still swollen. The swelling is getting better day by day.

Post-OP 9 Days

Sleeping on my back does not feel uncomfortable anymore. My nose gets clogged sometimes but I originally had rhinitis before surgery as well. The sensation around my mouth has returned almost completely.

Post-OP 10 Days

Eating porridge feels much more comfortable now and I can feel more comfortable brushing my teeth (with a kids toothbrush). My face is still swollen.

Post-OP 11 Days

I can start to see some of the contouring that was done on my face. There is still a weird sensation in my mouth but most of the sensation has returned. I want to remove my stitches quickly.

Post-OP 12 Days

My body feels fine now and I can eat food as long as I cut it into tiny pieces. My breathing is back to normal and it doesn’t feel clogged when I lie down either. I’ll finally get my stitches removed the day after tomorrow.

Post-OP 13 Days

I’m removing my stitches tomorrow. There is still some swelling in the inside of my mouth/cheeks and I still have some loss of sensation. But I can talk comfortably and I have no trouble eating.

Post-OP 14 Days

Today is stitch removal day. I can open my mouth to some extent and my recovery seems to be going well. My swelling seems to be getting better.

Post-OP 15 Days

I got my stitches removed yesterday and eating became easier now. I cannot open my mouth really wide but it’s a lot better compared to before.

Post-OP 16 Days

It’s refreshing to be able to brush my teeth regularly now. I’m doing the jaw exercises and I’m slowly starting to try other foods now.

Post-OP 17 Days

My ear felt like it was clogged but other than that, I’m able to proceed with my daily activities. Since my life is back to normal, I’m not too worried.

Post-OP 19 Days

There is still some swelling left in the inside of my mouth and the sensation for my mouth is almost back to normal.

Post-OP 20 Days

I’m in the middle of vacation with my family but my clothes look the same. I’m getting a lot better now that I’m eating more food. The area where my stitches were removed has healed so brushing my teeth feels much more comfortable.

Post-OP 21 Days

It felt like time was going by slowly but I’ve already recovered so much. I can eat well with little to no problems so I’m happy.

Post-OP 22 Days

Moving my lips became much easier. My nose look higher, maybe it’s because my chin went in after surgery. So I feel happy.

Post-OP 23 Days

My jawline is starting to become more visible. The inside of my mouth still feels a bit uncomfortable but since I no longer have a lantern jaw, I’m satisfied.

Post-OP 26 Days

The swelling on the inside of my mouth has gotten better so eating feels more comfortable now. As the swelling decreases, my face looks a bit uneven due to the swelling.

Post-OP 27 Days

In three days, it will be my last visit to the clinic. Moving my mouth still feels a bit dull but it seems to be getting better every day so I’m not too worried.

Post-OP 28 Days

The swelling on the front of my cheeks decreased a lot but the inside of my mouth is still swollen. I can feel tingling sensations; I guess it means my nerves are recovering.

Post-OP 30 Days

I came to the clinic for my last appointment. I still cannot open my mouth completely but it seems a lot better than before. The doctor said that I seem a lot better so I’m glad.

Post-OP 33 Days

This is my first selfie after returning to America. My face and speech is getting better each day.

Post-OP 45 Days

I’m receiving treatment at the dentist and also using rubber bands to align my molars which is a bit uncomfortable. It doesn’t hurt and I was told that I wouldn’t need it for too long.

Post-OP 59 Days

I feel like I’m fully recovered now. Moving my mouth feels comfortable now and the people around me tell me that I look pretty. I feel happy everyday. The muscles in the inside of my mouth is still not completely back to normal but it got a lot better. I feel that I made a good choice by getting surgery.

Post-OP 3 Months

I’ll be finished with braces by next month. I can’t believe time went by so quickly. I’m happy that I’m able to see improvement in my appearance and I feel that I did such a great job by undergoing surgery. I’m also glad that I was able to find out about EU.

Post-OP 4 Months

I will get my braes removed on Wednesday. I kept thinking “when will time go by?” I can’t believe it’s already been 4 months. There’s still a dull sensation in the inside of my mouth but other than that, I feel great. People keep telling me that my face got smaller.

Post-OP 5 Months

My results look natural to the point where I sometimes think “when did I get surgery?” Most of the sensation for the roof of my mouth has returned. I can eat any food now and I can see that the surgery went well since I have been recovering quickly and my jaw looks natural. I am really thankful!

Post-OP 6 Months

As time goes by, my jawline is becoming prettier so I’m happy. People keep telling me that I’m becoming prettier as time goes by. I’m glad that I did surgery and the muscles around my mouth are back to normal. The area of my surgery is almost completely healed. I feel that my cheeks and the area around my mouth has sagged a little but I’m happy with the position of my teeth and jaw.

Post-OP 7 Months

It’s already been 7 months since my surgery. I sometimes forget when I had surgery and braces. Luckily, I don’t have any negative side effects (like nerve damage) so I’m relieved. I feel that my surgery went well and I feel that I will continue to be happy.

Post-OP 8 Months

It’s already been 8 months since my surgery, sometimes I forget that I did it. It’s because the surgery went well, I’m able to eat regularly, and I don’t have to worry about my speech anymore.

Post-OP 9 Months

Since I’m eating well, I gained weight lately. Since I’m not experiencing any side effects and I recovered well, I’m recommending EU to people who are interested in double jaw surgery.

Post-OP 10 Months

It’s been 10 months. My teeth moved again so I’m back to doing braces T___T. I must have not taken care of it. Other than that, I am not experiencing any other side effects.

Post-OP 12 Months

It’s been 1 year since my surgery. I was proceeding with my daily activities without remembering that I had surgery. There are a lot of people around me who can’t tell that I had surgery. That’s how natural my results look and I had a speedy recovery. I feel like I’m living a new life. I’m always grateful to EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
