Since I was young, I had braces for eight years because of the severe malocclusion and the possibility of becoming a lantern jaw as I grew up. However, I decided to have surgery because I came back less than a year my bite become as before the braces. I decided to have jaw surgery because my face is asymmetrical and I look so ugly when I smile, and I feel so stressed. I was thinking of Double Jaw Surgery, so I thought of Plastic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, but I decided to get surgery from Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery because I thought of dental function as the best.

Post OP 1 Day

My face was swollen more than I thought. It was so tough that I couldn't sleep immediately after surgery. Since then, it was difficult to breathe because of the clogged blood in the nose and throat. Before surgery staff asked me to bring 2 tissues and wet tissues as preparations, but I think the wet tissues are more helpful. And when I couldn't breathe, I removed the blood clots from my nose with a long swab sterilized by the nurse. I tried to drink water, but when I drink it, I can hear it and bleed out and try several times. I only moistened my tongue and lips and I'm glad my brother helped me by the side.

I don't know if it's just my discharge day, but I feel less swollen than yesterday. Breathing has become easier and I do not feel pain after surgery because of painkiller injections! The nurse told me that I had to take good care of my health so I succeeded in eating it just before I left the hospital. I drink 1/4 of a pack (newcare) because it was more than I thought. I hope the swelling goes down quickly. Finally, I got my dressing and discharged from the hospital. I'm worried if I can take good care of myself even when I go home.

My face is more swollen. Maybe it's because I can't breathe if I wear facial pressure bandage while sleeping, so I took it off and slept. I've got a lot of bruises on my jaw. And I feel a lot of pressure on my face today. I feel like I'm on an airplane, my ears are numb, I feel like my eyes are come off, and my cheeks are stiff. I should go to the hospital tomorrow. I went to the hair salon and washed my hair, but I couldn't feel so refreshed. I only drank scorched-rice water today! Maybe that's why I feel a little dizzy.

The pain was severe, so I asked the doctor to check on my progress while receiving laser to visit the hospital. When I heard it was hard to breathe, the doctor sectioned my nose and it was a little cool and painful. The doctor told me that if I still feel uncomfortable after today, there is another way, so don't worry." I was getting the laser, but there was no other patient, so the staff allows me to get laser treatment a little longer time. I was so hungry that I visited the porridge restaurant. Porridge seems to be tough to eat it since it takes so long to eat it. I assume that I have a 55 % sensation in my mouth area. I feel very tingling. I hope I can breathe easily and my cheeks won't hurt today.

I feel a bit comfortable to breathe than yesterday, but my throat starts to feel real pain. I feel like something is inside on my throat that pokes me. This feeling made me wake up from sleep and bothers me a lot. So I asked the consultant that if I can eat a painkiller and she told me that if its unbearable I can eat it. Also, its interesting to see that face bruises go down to the chest. Some people said that new care tastes good but for me.. I don’t want to drink it so I try to find other food to drink it!

I can feel that my swelling start to reduce it and is it because I think a lot of water? I feel like I go to the toilet often than at other times since I drink a lot of water. I still have a bruise on my face that I must wear a mask if I want to go outside. My sensation starts to come back on my lips and I can breathe easily those days. My favorite drink is a banana blended juice.

The swelling has decreased further. I got yellow, green, purple bruises from my chin to my upper chest. I'm looking forward to it because it's a bruise in the color of the healing stage. Breathing has become so comfortable that I have less sleep and wake up. No more nosebleeds! It's easier to breathe, so I'm going to try to lie down and sleep.

Post OP 9 Days

Finally, I can lie down and fall asleep which made me have deep sleep! When I lie down I can feel pressure on my face but it does not bother to breathe. I used to be so hungry without food but I think I get used to it that I cannot feel hunger anymore.

It was the first time to do the makeup and go out after surgery! Major swell has been reduced but my face just looks like face people. Also, my nose look wide I think because of the swell on my nose. I hope it gets better after when I reduce swell. From now on I start to eat yogurt. I can breathe well but I still hope my sensation to comeback soon around my mouth. Also, sometimes when I laugh stitch inside of my mouth hurts! I should not laugh anymore L

Now, even without the mask, the bruises and swelling are not severe, so there is no need to surprise others. If the bruises on the chin and under the chin disappear, no one will know that I undergo surgery. I think the swelling is going down slowly now, but I hope it goes down a little faster. Maybe it's because of the swelling, but it still seems to be angular or not, and I'm practicing the opening exercises hard, and I'm already going in two fingers inside of the mouth. I want to make three fingers go in by the next treatment. LOL

I am able to eat most of the food except pickled radish or pork cutlet some food that I need to put pressure on my jaw! I don't feel I'm losing swell anymore because I can eat more and I'm gaining weight again. I hope to remove the wafer and screw and finish the braces as soon as possible.

I'm worried because my swelling reduces roughly that my face line does not look pretty at this moment. Right now I can up to two and a half fingers inside of my mouth. Also, I am glad to hear that I do not need to wear wafer all the time but just 3~4 hrs per day. I wish I could get rid of the swelling in my nose and cheeks.

Even my friends told me that my face looks awkward after the surgery at first, but they told me that I look good on it. I think they get used to my face now. Especially, my sense of mouth has returned quite a lot. Previously, the roof of my mouth felt like a roof of someone else's mouth, and I couldn't feel the temperature of the food, but now I think I can start to feel it a bit better! I've been eating so well lately.

I tried it today because I heard there was a good meat restaurant near my house! The meat itself was not thick, so it was easy to chew. Sometimes when it's too thick or hard to chew, I just chew it or swallow it. I hope I can eat everything comfortably soon.

The weather is so nice that I feel good. It was even better to hear that I am pretty when I came to work dressed up after surgery. It's nice to wear wafers only once in a while. But sometimes it's uncomfortable to wear wafers again. The person who is in charge of my braces told me that it would be helpful to warm the muscles around the mouth before I go to bed, so I'll try it. But I'm happy that I don't have to wear wafers soon.

I think major swelling is reduced a lot, so I came to the makeup lecture! The chin line is much smoother than before, and the face looks small! My new face shape makes me learn how to do makeup even more! After eating meat and shaved ice with a friend, I think it's okay unless it's very big!

Nowadays I go to learn broadcasting dance as an exercise and a hobby! The sensation of lip or chin is not 100% coming back as before the surgery. But I believe that it will come back soon! I live as before the surgery and I can't even remember the difficult times in the early days of surgery.
