It’s been three weeks but it looks like I
took the picture two days ago.
I’m really happy that I got prettier. I want to thank the doctor!
Double
Jaw + Facial Contouring Surgery: Day 1
Due to my protruding chin my strong,
angular jaw, I have been told that I had a lantern jaw ever since I was
younger. I thought that I needed to get surgery when I get older. Out of all of
the clinics, I chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery due to Dr. Kim. He was
an expert who specialized in the facial bone and teeth. He also worked as a
maxillofacial surgeon at the most famous plastic surgery clinic in the past. I
decided to get surgery with him..
I had surgery on January 3rd, at
around 10 a.m! I had to fast on the day before my surgery, starting at 9p.m.
When I arrived to the clinic, I spoke with the doctors and I was also told the
precautions before surgery. I was nervous when I went in for surgery. The
anesthesiologist cheered for me and helped me stay calm which made me feel less
scared. When I opened my eyes, the surgery was already over and I was moved to
the recovery room. While I was half awake, I kept taking deep breathes so that
I could expel the remaining anesthesia gas in my body. Since I was very drowsy,
all I wanted to do was sleep. 2~3 hours after the surgery, that’s when I
started to think “did the surgery go well?” I wasn’t experiencing much pain, I
just felt uncomfortable since I couldn’t drink water or eat anything or go to
sleep. Now that I think about it, I wonder how I was able to go through all of
that.
Day 2
One day has passed since I’ve been hospitalized.
My swelling started to increase during this day. Breathing and sleeping was
very uncomfortable. It’s not very common but the bruising went up to my eyes. I
was a bit upset and I was having a hard time. My friends visited me at the
clinic and all the staff were really kind. The staff showed me how I could
consume liquids through a tube that they gave me. When I regained some energy,
I walked around the clinic and watched tv.
Day 3
It’s finally the day I can get discharged
but I was very worried. I didn’t have anyone who could look after me so I wasn’t
sure if I could manage by myself. I got the catheter removed and got my mouth
disinfected and came home! Usually, the 3rd day after double jaw
surgery is the most difficult and my face got very swollen. It was hard to
breathe and sleep on this day since my head felt heavy due to the swelling. I’m
going on frequent walks so that my swelling can get better.
Day 4
I received de-swelling laser treatment and
since my nose was clogged, the doctor suctioned the inside of my nose and
disinfected my mouth. The nurse told me that my swelling was at its peak and that
I would not swell more than now. I have to sit down a lot so my glutes hurt. I
just want time to pass by quickly so that I can at least breathe properly. I
have been getting drinking through a tube and I didn’t crave any foods or felt
that hungry.
Day 5
My nose was clogged and the swelling wasn’t
decreasing. I was told that if I felt pain, I should consume Tylenol. Also, I’ve
been going on walks and have no problems with sleeping and eating. I have no
big discomforts.
Day 6
My nose seems to feels more clear! After
one week, breathing gets better! It’s not completely fine but it’s not as
clogged as before. I felt very happy on this day LOL. It felt like I was
finally recovering. I went on a walk and spent time playing video games at
home.
Day 7
I finally got my bandages removed at the clinic
today! It hurt a bit when the bandages got removed and I couldn’t feel anything
when the stitches were getting removed! I also got my mouth disinfected and
came home. I was able to see how my appearance changed a bit and my face line
got a lot better. I’m still very swollen but I’m still satisfied with how my
face changed. I kept taking selfies on this day and it felt like time went by
quickly. I want to remove my wafers quickly and take out the stitches that are
inside of my mouth quickly.
Day 9
Breathing got easier and I started getting
my appetite back. During this time, I was consuming “Mediwell,” strawberry
milk, and since I was only drinking these liquids, I wanted to try something
different so I had cream soup! I heated it up and it was really delicious! The
swelling isn’t gone but it isn’t as noticeable as before.
Day 10
There’s nothing special as of now. I’ve
been eating the same and have no trouble breathing. Maybe the swelling
decreased a little? I have no discomforts. Once you go through a difficult time
and become comfortable, you forget about the earlier hardship lol. If I had to
choose one thing that is making me uncomfortable, I guess I want to eat various
food?
Day 11
I went on a date with my boyfriend at
Gangnam. I visited many places, played board games, and went to a café. I still
feel wary of other people looking at me because I’m still swollen. But those
people won’t remember me and I was able to enjoy my date without a mask (to
cover the swelling). When the swelling is gone, I want to style my hair and do
my makeup!
Day 12
Today was very cold so I stayed in my room.
I was craving carbs so I tried my best to restrain myself but ended up cooking
ramen!! I cut the noodles into small pieces and ate it. I tried to chew it but
I couldn’t chew properly… I couldn’t eat it and ended up throwing everything
away…. I was really sad.
Day 13
I got my wafer and stitches removed today! Wow…
the stitch removal was painful. My mouth was still swollen so having to open my
mouth and getting the stitched taken out hurt. But after getting one removed,
it only hurt for a few seconds so the pain was bearable. Taking the wafers out
and biting down felt awkward and I couldn’t tell if my molars matched or not. I
had rubber bands put inside my mouth. The rubber bands are more uncomfortable
compared to the wafers. I wish my swelling and occlusion gets better quickly so
that I can eat what I want.
It’s already been 3 weeks since I got
double jaw surgery!!
Nowadays, I keep hearing that I look
younger so I feel happy.
When the swelling is gone, I’m sure my appearance
will look better~
Thank you very much doctor. I’ll see you a few more time.
